Genocide Facts


in 100 days an estimated 800,000 people were perished in Rwanda. three quarters of the Tutsi population was eliminated. According to survivors-fund.org, an average of 6 men, women, and children were killed every minute of the genocide. an approximated 300,000 to 400,000 people survived the genocide. between 250,000 and 500,000 women were raped by the Hutu rebellions. of all those women, 67 % were later diognosed with HIV or AIDs. there were 50,000 widows as a result of the genocide, 10 times more than widowers. between the ages of 14-21, there were 100,000 survivers. after the genocide, there were 75,000 orphans. half of the childen that survived the genocide stooed their schooling. and even today, there are 40,000 survivers still without shelter.
